i am doing the server+ course at college and have just heard that the current exam is being scrapped on march 31st!
apparently there is a new exam which is actually available now, but will totally take over from after march 31st.
because there will be objectives in the new exam that are not in current server+ publications, and the exam will probably be tougher than the present one, i have decided to try and cram in a load of study and do the present exam before 31st march.
can anyone recommend decent publications for me to study for the present exam? is the exam-cram book any good? and is the server+ exam any harder or easier compared to the a+ exam? also, will the current exam be valid for less time than the new one???

your help is very much appreciated!

I can't believe that they are teaching a course for Server+ and were not aware of the new objectives! The new objectives are listed on the CompTIA web site

The new exam is reported to be a vast improvement on the old exam. A+ is an entry-level exam. Server+ is targeted at the technician with 2 years of SERVER experience. Yeah, it's tougher than A+.

CompTIA has published a study guide that outlines the changes to the new objectives. It would be a good idea to grab this study guide. Server+ Bible by Trevor Kaye is a good book.

I wouldn't try to rush and take the old exam. I would dedicate myself to extra study and review of the new changes and then attack the new exam. Good Luck.
