Hello everyone. does anyone have any ideas on cheaply copying data from a smaller hard drive to a newer larger hard drive? I am looking to make an exact copy on the new larger hard drive. I tried a few of the products available but none seem to do microsoft server 2000 level copying. The "C" drive in this server needs to be replaced. I placed the new drive into the chain and readied myself to copy, but I am not having much luck. Are there products I have not heard of that may copy drive to drive? Thanks in advance for any help you can supply.

Altiris Deployment Server can do this for you. Norton Ghost will also do this for you. DriveImage is also available.

I use norton Ghost. Just be sure to copy the right hd. Otherwise you will end up with 2 blank drives. Keep in mind which ide the drive you want to copy is on. This is your source drive.

You could also use Symantec VolumeManager. It is similar to PartitionMagic, but works for servers (which PartitionMagic does not do).

My memory is not as good as it should be, and neither is my memory.

I have forgotten more than I can remember

Thanks for the input. I purchased Ghost. Everything looks ok to go but the drive is to fragmented for ghost to run.. Ran defrag, still to fragmented. Ghost wont run with the drive the way it is and theres nothing that can be deleted. I am attempting to ghost the "C" of the server to another location, replace the hard drive with a larger one, then place the ghost image back onto the new larger hard drive. I planned on using partition magic to extend out the drive. Reason for all of this is i cant figure out a way to not have user data from log - ins on ROM flash PC's not run my server "C" drive empty w/ temp files etc. Can user info be re-directed away from the "C" to the "E"? Everytime a user logs into the Rom flash PC's they accumulate files etc. on the server "C" drive until it os full. I only have 120mg open on it.
