I currently have an external 56k modem connected via my serial port. Ive had the modem for about 2 years now.

I was wondering if upgrading to a new USB 56k modem would make any difference in performance, especially in terms of my ping in online gaming?

I cant get cable where I live :( so this is my only possible option to maybe improve my connection.

Thanks,

Tom.

When USB modems first came out, they were actually slower than Serial, I am sure that has been improved, but a good serial port can do 230k bps, more than enough to feed a 56k modem, particuarly as they run at 44k mostly (the 4 to 1 compression makes 230k a good choice) I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
