We have just upgraded our site to site serial kilostream link from 512 to 2mb. I can't see a speed setting on our 2600 routers, is this automatic or do I need to make a change? This is this output from sh int on the serial interface:

Hardware is HD64570
Internet address is 1.1.1.1/24
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1544 Kbit, DLY 20000 usec, rely 255/255, load 255/255
Encapsulation HDLC, loopback not set, keepalive set (10 sec)
Last input 00:00:03, output 00:00:00, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters never
Input queue: 0/75/0 (size/max/drops); Total output drops: 656
Queueing strategy: priority-list 1
Output queue (queue priority: size/max/drops):
high: 0/20/431, medium: 0/40/0, normal: 3/60/0, low: 0/80/0
5 minute input rate 87000 bits/sec, 238 packets/sec
5 minute output rate 1846000 bits/sec, 439 packets/sec
58124192 packets input, 3099059367 bytes, 0 no buffer
Received 336663 broadcasts, 0 runts, 0 giants, 0 throttles
2775 input errors, 133 CRC, 1 frame, 6 overrun, 167 ignored, 107 abort
74649252 packets output, 3882995372 bytes, 0 underruns
0 output errors, 0 collisions, 133 interface resets
0 output buffer failures, 0 output buffers swapped out
26 carrier transitions
DCD=up DSR=up DTR=up RTS=up CTS=up

Thanks for any help [pipe]

Well it looks like you are pushing out about 1.9 Mbps right now so I'd say the upgrade was a success. However there are errors showing on the interface that were probably caused when the telco was doing the upgrade. I would suggest clearing the interface statistics and see if those errors start appearing again.

As rburke stated, it appears to be working just fine. The speed setting is somewhat arbitrary and is used more for statistical purposes rather than funcitonality. I would change it regardless. To make the change, go the serial interface of your router via config mode and type the following command:

speed 2000

Speed" is not a valid command on a Cisco serial interface.

999Dom999, your telco is providing the clocking on this circuit and so you don't have to do anything.

Chris.

Thanks a lot guys, I've cleared the counters on the interface and so far no more errors. All seems to working fine. [pipe]
