Serial Interface not showing commands

Hi All,

I think this might be a dumb question.

I'm trying to configure a point point T1. I have two routers one at each end and both have the WIC-1DSU-T1 card.

When I enter the service-module framing and linecode commands in the interfaces configuration mode. I go back and do a Show Run and I don't see the commands just entered under the serial interface, is just like I didn't enter anything.

The routers are yet not connected to the T1 line since we don't have it yet, but i wanted to do the config ahead of time.

Is this normal? or do I need to have the lines connected, before doing the config in each router?

...yea..its normal..
...you dont see that under show run..i dont even think you see it under show interface...

..you could easily make a cross over t1 and hook the routers togethor for a *test run*

...assuming you are using wic-1dsu or similar card..

If the commands that you entered are "default" configuration for the router - they may not display in the ocnfiguration. They are default. If you change to something other than default then they may show up. This happens on 2801's anyway...

Change to non-default setting as a quick test...

Guys,

Created the crossover cable and the T1 modules are wokring fine.

So know I have one last question.

I've asked for the parameters from the provider and they said they used default config.

So, when the PTP T1's are ready for use do I just hook up the cable on the respective routers and configure the linecode, framing or do I also have to setup an ip address?

You could do ppp, but you don't have to. I would think you would set up an ip address, /30 for ppp.

..yes you will definately have to put ip address in..
...also as castlesmadeofsand is mentioning it is time to think about an "IP scheme" if you havent alread..
..not sure what your network consists of but if different subnets are possibly going to be routing over this, you are going to have some design considerations.

Hi Guys,

Our PTP provider has delayed our PTP T1, and since this has to be ready for next Monday, for now I've setup a Site to Site VPN thru our internet T1's. As soon as we have our PTP's in place I'll give that a shot.

I'll let you know the outcome.
