Sendmail Upgradation precaution and step Urgent !!!

Dear All,

Presently I am using sendmail ver 8.12.2 on Solaris 5.9 on sparc platform and want to upgrade it to 8.12.9. After downloading the tar file from sendmail.org , I am just worried to untar it ..So soughting the help of someone who has done upgradation.

Pl let me know the procedure for that and the precaution to be followed..
