Hello everyone

We have a small LAN based on W2K Server. We need to exchange email between us using Outlook 2000 but without having or using an internet connection. In the past there was MS Mail. Now what ? It seems that W2K Server has an SMTP mail server but I don't know whether that is my answer and, if it is, how to have it configured in Outlook. The clients are WinXP and Win98.

Thanks for your assistance
Alexis

Yep, you'll need to set up the SMTP server in 2K server -- that's the only tricky part. I think it's under IIS, but I haven't even looked at it in a long time.

The Outlook part of the setup will be quite simple. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

You can still set up MS Mail on one of the 98 machines. On the Win98 CD, look in \tools\oldwin95\message\us\wms.exe

Thanks for the replies. I would like to have something that is currently supported and running on the server; th is why I asked about SMPT server. SMTP is running as a service on the server machine. How do I address users on the network (i.e. what do you put on the To: field when writing an email) ?
