I just came accross a very strang problem. I am trying to send an html email, and a "!" is getting randomly inserted into the email html string.

I am building a string with html, i print it to the screen before sending it, it looks fine there. But when i get the email, there is a random "!" inserted. Any ideas?

I just took a glance back to the beginning of October, and didnt see anything. Any hints?

I actually took part in the conversation, but don't remember the details.

It seemed to have something to do with the say you construct your long strings.

If you coudl find a link to that thread, it would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've tried. Twice. I just don't remember a distinctive phrase which would narrow the search. I have a vague memory of something to do with string contatenation issues that seemed to be PHP version and platform-specific.

What verion of PHP are you running on what platform?

My own installation differs from yours in two ways -- my OS is Fedora Core 2 and my MTA is Postfix. Since Fedora is a derivative of Redhat 9, I'm wondering if this is a sendmail problem.

Or perhaps there's something obscure the the SMTP RFCs that defines sendmail's behavior as correct and Postfix as incorrect.
