Hi,

We are using Exchange 2000 and Outlook 2000. We have noticed a recent problem with "send on behalf of" permissions, if we grant a user these permissions and they then try to send a message on behalf of another user the message arrives as if it has been sent by the other user and not on behalf of. I have checked the security tab of the user in AD and they do not have the "send as" permission enabled, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe a pointless question but are they using the "From" field properly. As an administrator you can never assume. Is this more than 1 person with one account or is it across your entire network.

Yes they are using the from field and it appears to be affecting all users, not sure why it has just started happening as it was working ok for months.

Hello,

I have experienced similiar problems and was able to trace it back to Exchange 2000 SP3. Apparently in SP3, MS changed the way the Full Mailbox rights permissions worked, in that it now grants Send As permissions (whereas before it only allowed full read). Luckily the new SP3 rollup 'corrects' this oversight. I applied the rollup and the Send As right was removed (so the Delegate permissions was the only thing left, which allows for the "..on behalf of..") Here is a link that may help you... Good luck!
