Every month we send out a stationary email to multiple operators from the exchange server. The problem is that after we have sent this email all the other users emails are delayed for up to 24hrs! The original distribution group has been cut down from over 1000 recipients to six smaller groups of around 200... but this has not rectified the problem.

Could someone explain why this is happening please?? Are stationary based emails larger / more complicated than others… any advice would be gratefully received.

Sam

It's just common sense, shame sense isn't common!

The only difference is that such a mail is always HTML. It 'could' be some recipient servers act a little difficult about that and slow down the transaction.
If your connection has enough bandwidth, you could try to increase your concurrent connections in the SMTP Virtual server to increase throughput (if ISP allows).

If 'something' 'somewhere' gives 'some' error, expect random guesses or no replies at all.
