How do I configure a person to be able to send mail from a distribution list. Every time I try to send mail from a distribution list, it keeps saying:

You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator.

I want to be able to send mail from a distribution list to internal and external email address. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Check the properties of the distribution list. Check the Exchange General tab to make sure Message Restrictions is set to accept messages from "Everyone"(If that is what you want). That's my first thought.

Yes, in the Exchange General tab, Message Restrictions is set to accept messages from "Eveyone", however, I don't have a problem accepting message, only problems trying to send e-mail as the distribution list name.

Set the SEND AS attribute in ADUC to whatever person if required. In Outlook, change the FROM.

If you are using Outlook, first turn OFF using MS Word as your email editor. Then create a new email and select the View menu in the new email window. You should now be able to turn on the FROM field and enter the distribution list in the from field.

You'll need to make sure in AD that the distribution list is set to allow people to send email on behalf of the list.

Good luck!
