Send From Dynamic Distribution Group 1

Hello All,

We have an OU for our income recovery department, based on the users in this OU we have a dynamic distribution list so people can mail to income.recovery@xyz.co.uk, however the people on this list need to be able to reply from this address so any replies they send will come from income.recovery@xyz.co.uk so any replies that are sent will go to the whole distribution list.

When users add this group to the 'From' field in outlook 2003 (we are runnning exchange 2003) when sending a message an error saying "You do not have permission to send from this account" appears. I can't find a way in the exchange tabs in AD to set this permission. Can this not be done using Dynamic Distribution Groups? Will I have to use a fixed security group or is there a way round this???

Open the Active Directory Users and Computers MMC.

Pull down the View menu and select Advanced

Now look at the distribution group properties, there will be a security tab. This tab is normally not visible when advanced view is not selected. - On the security tab, you can add users and grant them the 'Send As' right.

This seems to work for normal security groups, but not for the dynamic distribution groups, I only get to see full control/read/write permissions for these groups? Any other ideas?

Unfortunately you can't set Send As for query-based distribution groups. They are a different sort of animal and can't carry the same complex ACL.

I'd try and work out some way to use regular distribution groups, but I don't know what requirements you are trying to meet, so I can't really brainstorm for you.

ok, thanks for your help on this, I had a feeling this might be the case. I will have to settle for manually maintaining the group.
