hi,
I am designing a order, delivery and inventory database.
From the inventory form, I have to send an email to the concerned person about the delivery. The email address is not given seperately but has to be taken from the Employee table and a short text message shoud be sent to that employee telling him about the delivery.
Is it better to use MAPI?
can someone please help me with the code?

thanks

Hi

If you are using Outlook, or OutlookExpress, this is straightforward, see docmd.sendobject in help

As far as I understand SendObject works for every e-mail client that supports MAPI. I don't no much about MAPI, VIM or SMTP, but Access VBA Help explains a bit more. Search for "SendObject". On an e-mail client that only supports VIM (whatever it may be) you should install an additional dll.
