Send command to serial port

Help! Thanks! I'm writing an Access 2000 Point of Sale application and need to press a command button that will cause a cash drawer connected via a serial port to open. Can this be done in Access????

Question is probably a bit off topic for this forum, suggest you try MS Office forum

Look at your cash drawer's document instead of
Access, they should provide ways to communicate
with different application software. Hope you are
in the right direction.
