I'm running Exchange 2003 SP2 (build 7638.2).

I want some people to be able to send out an email coming from an address like 'sales@domain.com'. I have tried setting up an account and giving people Send As permission but it doesn't seem to work. When the user selects the 'sales' account to send from they just get the "You do not have permission to send the message on behalf of the specified user" error.

NB I don't want the outgoing email to say sent by XYZ on behalf of Sales.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Check out this article:

You may want to not just merely grant 'send-as' but actuall give the users full control to the mailbox.

Have you thought of not making it a mailbox, but a public folder, so that it's easier to access and work with? They could still take advantage of 'send-as' even in that scenario.

Thanks for that ShackDaddy - looks a good article. I might try out the Public Folder idea as it may indeed be easier. I'll let you know how it goes.

Actually setting the Send As permission was working this morning - maybe I just needed to give the server time to refresh! But I scrapped that idea in favour of a Public Folder. It works too!! Thanks.
