Hello,

Does anyone know if it is possible to send someone an Access query and/or report? Basically I have an Access DB with a query/report in it. I want someone to be able to run it without them actually opening the database itself.

So what I am wondering is if it is possible to send them some kind of link file, so that they can save it on their desktop, and when they double-click it it links to the DB and runs the report.

Any ideas? I'm not sure if this is even possible.

Thanks!

I know that it is possible to create a shortcut from a macro and put that macro shortcut out onto the network, what will happen is the database will be opened on that user's pc until the macro is ran and the changes are made then the database will automatically close. I have many macros saved out on our network that pull data into my database, run queries, make tables, etc. without me have to open each database and go through all of these steps i just hit the macro shortcut and it is done automatically. If you need any help with building or using macros just ask.

hope that's what you were looking for.

You can easily create a small database that contains

The Report

The query and gathers the data from the underlying tables

LINKS back to the source tables in your database.

They then open their database and it appears to just show the report - with all your laters data.

Add appropriate security to stop them fiddling.

Add a Startup form that just opens the report and put

application.Quit in the Reports On_Close event and they'll JUST see the report and nothing else.

'ope-that-'elps.

Do you want them to access your database or not? Are you actually trying to avoid something else eg updates, or viewing sensitive data? If so Access has better ways of doing this.
