Hi everyone:

I have a query with 7 tables in it. They're all related tables. I am trying to create a data entry form from that query. But I am unable to make the entry in the form. Form is just all gray - it does not show any fields in it?

What am I doing wrong?

Any help provided would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

Look at the form's property sheet and make sure the allow additions property or the data entry property on the data tab is set to yes.

Hi again!

One more thing, you must make sure that the query you have used is updateable. Just run the query by itself and see if you can change data or add data. If not, then you should post your query and table layouts so we can help you make the query updateable.

Hello JEff:

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I have both allow addition and allow data entry to yes. And it still gives me blank gray form.

I have a query as a Select Query and not the Update Query. Does that make difference but it doesn't allow me to run if it contains "*".

Should I forward the copy to your e-mail address?

Hi!

Yes you can forward to my email, but zip it first or it will not pass Purdue's security restrictions.

Jeff,

I have just forwarded a Zip copy of the database to you.
Thanks a lot for helping.

Hello Jeff,

Thanks for all the replies thru e-mail.

From your suggestions I was able to solve the problems thru developing subforms in a main form instead of using a big query . Which allowed all the data to be saved in all the related tables.

Is there a way to open this form to show all the records so if I want to make modification I can do it?
