Hello
I worked on a friends computer this week-end, setting it up with her as jane with admin rights and a son as limmited user. i wanted to set the amount of times the admin could attempt to sign on.. I set the screen saver to activate in 20min & user must log back in, after 2 failed log in attempts, user is locked out for 30min

BUT! i can't log in after screen saver activates..it says did you forget your password? it won't let me log-in, i know the password. i put it in..i have to log on as admin and turn all that off..

anybody have any ideas? I would think it would be pretty straight forward

THANKS for any help!

As the Built-in Administrator type Control Userpasswords2 in the Start Run Box. In the User Account window that it brings up try resetting all the users passwords (use the same ones if you want, but still reset them) and see if you have better luck with the screensaver this time.

Another thing to look at is the Security log in the Event Viewer. You can see if there are any Login failures etc.

The audit log appears in the Security log in Event Viewer. To enable this feature:

Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click Administrative Tools.
Double-click Local Security Policy.
In the left pane, double-click Local Policies to expand it.
In the left pane, click Audit Policy to display the individual policy settings in the right pane.
Double-click Audit object access.
Select the Success check box for the security objects you want audited for successful use.
To audit unsuccessful access to these objects, select the Failure check box.
To enable auditing of both, select both check boxes.
Click OK.

Thanks linney
I will activate audit object access and see what that tells me..i did reset the password several times in the coarse of trying to set it up..

THANKS AGAIN linney
