Security Problem

My users are now unable to access the database. This problem did not begin until a week ago. When ever some of users attemted to open up the database they receive this error "Could not use 'Admin'; file already in use." instead of getting the logon box. This also occurs even when they are the only one trying to logon. I have check their security setting and could not find anything different than the other users. I need someone who really knows a great deal about MS Access security.

If it is indeed a security thing ... well, see what you or someone else changed--isolate the error.

It's more likely a database corruption problem.

If this error occurs while there are no other users, it may be that your workgroup file has a leftover lockfile (.ldb file). Check in the workgroup file's folder for one, and see if you can delete it.

If that's the problem, the next thing you have to figure out is why the lockfile isn't being deleted after all users log off. One possibility is that the folder containing the workgroup file's folder is read-only to the last user to log off. Normally, the last user who logs off deletes the lockfile, but if the user doesn't have delete rights in the folder, it's left behind.
