Security log within event viewer

Not sure if this comes under this forum but maybe someone can help....
I am trying to use Crystal reports version 8.5 to view the security log within event viewer on a windows 2000 server. I can see the system and application logs which work ok ...but when I try to open the security log I get the message 'none of the NT machines is available'...
Is anyone come across this ???
