I have just places all of our users in their respective department OU's. Should I put security groups in the ou's as well. Example.... production security group in production ou.?????

Thanks.

That's up to you, and your style of administration. I personally put all Groups in an OU labeled Groups, then I place all Distribution Lists into an OU called DLs.

Governments and corporations need people like you and me. We are samurai. The keyboard cowboys. And all those other people out there who have no idea what's going on are the cattle. Mooo! --Mr. The Plague, from the movie "Hackers

bear in mind that GPO won't apply to the groups themselves, the users need to have their user object directly under the GPO 'umbrella' to apply.. Otherwise, like PSC says it is a matter of how you organise

Aftertaf
We shall prevail, and they shall not

Cool, Thanks. That all makes sense. GPO's will not apply to groups.... correct?

Correct, but you can apply a group to a GPO to set the permission who may run the GPO.
