Hi All,

I'm running Checkpoint NG AI. I never had to setup the remote client before. Recently I getting a lot of requests for remote access.
My Question is which client would you recommend. I have regular users that will be connecting from home, I also vendors that's sits behind a corporate firewall that moves from building to building(permanent vpn out of the question).

In both senario, what client would you suggest.

Thanks for any input.

Secure Remote provides remote user VPN access but doesn't secure the users work station. However a Secure Remote licence doesn't cost. If you have Firewall-1 then you can use Secure Remote.

Secure Client does cost on a "per concurrent user" basis but it also provides desktop security. ie. you can push a security policy to the desktop.

I would go with Secure Client.

Chris.

It is important to remeber that you can split tunnel with SecureRemote. As long as your policies are correct you can't do that with SecureClient. Your policy on SecureClient should ban anything apart from what you require. You can also use the SecureClient packaging tool to make the install for your clients silent and add the sites automatically which can drastically cut down on Admin. If you allow users to install SecureClient themselves then they can leave the option ON to disable the policy which can leave the remote PC's vunerable.

We use SecureClient like a Firewall. Allowing access only to specific subnets and effectively blocking all other access. The only problem with this is when users want to connect to Wireless hotspots!!
