We are running G3si 8, the primary cdr output is via eia port and feeting to Emerald CAS. Well, I don't want to touch the existing setup of Emerald CAS as we can't afford to loose cdr data. I'm thinking of pumping the cdr information through SECONDARY CDR output. I know that it has to be through an data module extension. Do I need any kind of circuit pack to do that or what kind of datamodule I have to look for.

On another note, Now that our Emerald CAS is being very old, we are thinking of upgrading the CAS. I did study on some CAS software like Veramark eCAS, Tapit. I would like to get experts feedback on this software too.

Kindly advise.

Setting up the data module is fiddly but you need no extra hardware other than the DM itself and a DCP. Connect the DM to the switch over a standard digital line, connect the serial end to a pc running "hypertrm". Read:
page 23 explains the registers and should = 103 (if UK)
You should also set S0 to 1 for auto answer(ATS0=1)

I trust this makes sense?!?! :)

NJ

NJ,
Thanks, your explanation makes alot of things clear, however I've few more questions.

1. We connect CMS also through a datamodule 7400D, which is connected to a 8port Digital Line Circuitpack (TN754C). We have used only one port on this circuitpack, can we use the remaining ports to get cdr output.

2. Does this option (secondary cdr output) needs to be enabled by Avaya?

regds.

The Datamodule generally only uses 1 port, I'm pretty sure it uses the data channel of the line, os yes you can use any of the other ports on the digital card. The secondary cdr output should be as simple to turn on as "change sys cdr" you will see the option for secondary output, set it to customised (uses next page for format) or direct-int or whatever format you need and enter the extension of the data module as the output port.

Cheers,
NJ

Whzzzzzzzzzzz.... thanks for your rocket speed reply.

I'll try that and get back if I come across anything.

You need to use a 7400A or 7400B Data Module. The 7400D is for X.25 synchronous data only.
