can someone explain where my jumpers have to be on my second hard drive :::::I have IDE 1 with hard drive master with cdrom slave. IDE 2 i have my re-writer, on my new H/D i have two jumpers (82.3 gig IBM) on the back and 9 pins . Labels on the back are : 16 pin.....15 pin........32gig.....and free spin? (whatever that is).

The drive should have a diagram (usually printed on it & on accompanying documentation - will also be on manufacturer's website) which shows you where jumpers go for various settings (eg, make drive master, make it slave, cable select - depends where connected to cable whether master or slave. Some have other options, like Master with no slave present/Master with slave present). If you're installing to second IDE, decide which (drive or CD writer) will be master and which will be slave, set jumpers according to diagram, connect to IDE cable & all should be well.

In addition to what wolluf said, keep in mind that sharing the IDE connection with a CDROM drive could hinder the hard drive's overall performance.
