I've been having trouble tracking down rogue permissions in WinXP - certain subfolders don't seem to be inheriting the permissions I set above them.

Does anyone know a way that I can search for particular permissions being active within a registry branch?

(eg. "hkey current user/blah/secure/" has NO write permissions but "hkey current user/blah/secure/rogue" has write permissions for 'everyone')

Currently I'm having to track them down manually which takes an age...

Thanks a lot bcastner, looks good, will investigate ...

bcastner,

Thanks for the great KB article. I tried this secedit function in Windows XP Home and it states that it does not recognize secedit. Is there a similar function for XP Home? I'm having the same trouble as the original posting.
