Thanks for reading.

Here's the issue. I'm trying to encourage my users to cleanup old files. Of course they all want to pack-rat their files "JUST IN CASE" one day they will need them again.

I found all files that haven't been accessed over 2 + years. It there a simple way I can print my results (of all those files with their paths?). I would love to go to the next staff meeting and hand these out.

So you see, I've searched for the files, found the old files, now just can't do anything with the results.

Thanks in advance.

why don't you just write them to CD-rom, then delete the whole lot and see how long it takes them to notice???
10-1 no one will..

Hahaha - I'd love to!

I will be making an archive CD. However, for the here and now, I really need something I can show them to prove OLD FILES take up space. It's the whole "Won't believe until they see it" thing.

Thanks ~

If you use the search tool in Windows explorer, you can click the option to save results. If you put the appropriate criteria in the modified date fields, you should be able to 'find' the old files.

It doesn't actually work on mine - but apparently it is supposed to put an icon on your desktop with the results.

Maybe that will give you something printable?

Simon's post is on the right track.. Use start - find - Files and folders rather than explorer and then follow these instructions which are from MS Help on the find file dialog box.
"To save the results of a search
After a search for a file has finished, click the Options menu in the Find window, and then click Save Results.

On the File menu, click Save Search.

An icon representing the search results or search criteria appears on your desktop.

To update the search results, click the icon, and then click Find Now"

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I can save both the "Search" and "Search Results" however, I still need a way to print my results.

Thanks again ~

do a print screen of the results....
and to just print the active window, hold 'Alt' when
pressing print screen!!!
(then go into MSpaint or other editing software and paste....
save as a .bmp or .jpg or something and print off the pic.!!) Jay~

KeyTech - talk about consuming time. But it did work. However, that program that dean suggested works great. Totally freeware (they do have a shareware version) - but did exactly what I needed.

Thanks again dean!
