Howdy,

I have a user that is attempting to search for a specific word or phrase in there documents folder. I was able to test the function it will find files or documents with the name that contains the keyword but it won't find any documents that contain the keyword. For example, if I do a search for files or folders named: test it brings them up no problem. But if I have a file with the word test in it, and do Containing Text: test search it will not display any files. (Out of curiousity I tested this on my home PC also same thing, work PC is normal.)

I was able to find the following article, and it looks like a registry issue.
It gives you instructions on how to resolve the issue but recommends installing service pack 2. I've done that and no luck, also the extentions it lists doesn't contain the .doc whicih is what the file extension is. So I guess I'm a little confused and stuck. Was wondering if anyone else has seen this issue and if so how do they resolve this?

Thanks,
Dd.

Hey Bcastner

For me personally that will work but I can't install that onto our Users' PCs due to policy/licensing guidelines. Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Dd.

Try #2:

Open notepad and copy/paste the below into a file to be called doc.reg :

---------- start copy/paste below this line
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.doc]

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.doc\PersistentHandler]
@="{98de59a0-d175-11cd-a7bd-00006b827d94}"

----------- end copy/paste above this line

Double click this file to merge with your registry and reboot and test.
