I would like to search an xml file and assign the results from multiple tags to a variable. Is this easy to do using javascript?

Is the XML on the client computer, or on the server? If on the server, you'll need to use either server-side scripting or AJAX. If on the client, you'll need to use ActiveX (which is IE-only) to read the file and parse it.
