Is there a way for the Info Desktop logon to default in a particular username. We have set up generic usernames and we want that username to default into the username prompt at logon. We don't want their network username to default as their Info Desktop username.

Thanks in advance,
Bessebo

You could modify these registry keys for each user:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Seagate Software\Seagate Info\ConnectedAPSs\<yourAPSname>\UserID

and

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Seagate Software\Seagate Info\ConnectedAPSs\<yourAPSname>\Password

Your users will autatically login to the Desktop via the appropriate User ID and password. Please note, however, that this option does not work if you allow the users to connect to multiple, separate APS environments. If they are only ever going to connect to one APS or one APS Cluster, then this option should work well.

This did not work for me. I go an invalid username or password error message.

If you received an Invalid username or password error then you either mistyped the User ID or password in the registry setting in such a way that it no longer matches the User ID and/or password in your Seagate Info Database. Remember, to use the same case as well...

I'm sorry. I've tried this a couple of times and I keep getting the same Invalid username, password, or APS name error. I am using the proper case and the username and password are correct. I would prefer that it just fill in the username with a value of "Administrator". It appears that it's trying to actually log me in. I would prefer to just put in my own password so that I can log in as any user I want. I usually want the username to default to Administrator but there are times I want to log in as other users to check security, etc. When I make this change to the registry it actually tries to log me in and I would prefer to just be at the login screen.

Regards,
Bessebo

I see. Yes, unfortunately, it does attempt to log you in directly. Sorry, this didn't work for you:( I tested the registry setting changes on my own desktop before I posted the message.
