Good day ..

I am wondering if there are any license requirements for the SICvw32.exe. This install's the Seagate Analyzer on someones machine who does not have any Seagate Software already installed. This enables me to ship them a report via email, and have them view the report without needed desktop, designer etc.

Does this require any license etc? During install, it does not ask, nor does it ever prompt or seem to require one.

Thanks ..

SAW

According to the SI7.5 license agreement you are free to distribute the Seagate Analyser, however if you use Seagate Info to automatically and/or regularly distribute reports to users who then look at them via the Analyser you may require a Crystal Broadcast License.

From the EULA:
Code:
6. SEAGATE INFO ANALYZER PLUG-IN. The license to the Software also includes a limited license to use the Software component known as the “Seagate Info Analyzer Plug-In” as such component may be more fully described in the Software’s documentation. You may install and use the Seagate Info Analyzer Plug-In on multiple Server and Client comput-ers under your control in the United States, and any other country to which the Software is legally exported, provided that the Seagate Info Analyzer Plug-In is used only to view reports generated by the Software. Users of the Seagate Info Analyzer Plug-In are not required to hold a Client License or any other of the types of licenses described herein. However, the right to use the Seagate Info Analyzer Plug-In does not provide an end user with the right to use any other component of the Software (e.g., Info APS; HTML, Java and Windows desktops), and each end user directly or indirectly accessing, or obtaining the benefit of, such other Software components must, at a minimum, be properly authorized pursuant to a Client License. Except to the extent in conflict with this Section 7, your limited use of the Seagate Info Analyzer Plug-In hereunder shall otherwise be subject to all of the terms and conditions of this License Agreement.
The CBL clause:
Code:
1.7. “Report Distribution System” means any process or system or combination of processes or systems that is or are used to automatically and/or regularly deliver, share or dis-tribute Reports, without allowing use of the Software: (a) to greater than fifty (50) end users directly, or (b) to a location that is accessible to greater than fifty (50) end users, who are reasonably likely to view or use the Reports. A Report Distribution System shall not include: (a) distribution of Reports in hard copy form; or (b) manual distribu-tion on a one-time or ad hoc basis. For purposes of calculating the number of end users, you do not need to include any end user who otherwise has a valid license to use the Software or any of Seagate’s other products (other than any product offered free of charge).
