SE Config corrupt ahead of timed change!

Today I made a timed change on a v9.1 SE system, set to kick in later this evening. The customer then merged some changes ahead of the timed change and since then all of the huntgroups have disappeared. This isn't a programming error as restoring a backup doesn't bring them back and also any new configured huntgroups aren't there when you save and re-open the config..

Interestingly system status is still showing the groups as ringing and the incoming call routes show the huntgroup names still (with them available in drop down)

Help!! (Not sure how to resolve if restoring a backup doesn't even help!)

After half an hour of the system presumably trying to restore itself and/or failover to secondary server the groups have re-appeared, however in the process a load of phones have lost their base numbers (not all bizarrely) so I have a site visit tomorrow now to re-enter extensions... zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Load a previous config.
