HI

Can any one help me...

I have PII - MMX CPU @ 266 Mhz and 256MB ram with SCSI hard drives ( i have 3 hard disks - all scsi).I use this as PDC with NT 4.0. It suddenly gave the blue screen so i restarted the system.

Then it trying to start normally and giving the list of CDROM detected ,etc. After some time it gave the SCSI controller details

Adaptec AHA-2940 Ultra/ultra W BIOS v1.23

<<< Press <ctrl><A> for scsi select

SCSI ID:LUN NUMBER #:# 0:0 FUJITSU M2949Q Device not ready
SCSI ID:LUN NUMBER #:# 1:1 WDIGTL WDE9100 Drive c : (80h)
SCSI ID:LUN NUMBER #:# 4:4 CONNER CTT8000-S

then immediately it gave

Press any key to reboot.

Now it is repeating the steps but NT is not loading.

Is it the problem of Hard disk or controller how to find out and solve this.

I also checked the SCSI disk utilities when i select #0 it gave the following

unexpected scsi command failed

Target SCSI ID:0
SCSI CDB set: 03 00 00 00 0E 00 70 00 04 00
Host Adapter status: 00h - no host adapter error
Target status: 02h - check condition
Sense key : 04h - Hardware error
+Sense code: 44h
+sense code Qualifier : A1h

Pls help me.

I think your first detected SCSI device is causing a problem. I would open the computer and verify that everything if connected properly via SCSI cables.

If that doesn't solve the problem. Try to disconnect the FUJITSU disk. Then try to boot. You may have to buy a new disk and restore the from backup the data...

HI Joseph

I did open the box and verified all the disks and controllers. When i disconnect the Fujitsu disk it does not give any error but it still cant start the O.s. B'se Fujitsu is the boot disk. And it is also giving lot of noise. I think i need to replace the disk. WIll it be good if i do low level format using the SCSI disk utilities?

No unfortunately, its sounds like a hardware failure problem. I would replace this drive with a new one and then restore your OS from backup.

(You could try the low level format...nothing to lose now..) Joseph L. Poandl
