I have a Breece Hill Q2.15 Tape Library with dual tape drives. I have the SCSI commands to control the robotics to position the robot, move medium, etc. I am not sure how to send the SCSI commands to the jukebox? I have been researching the mtx, mtio, ioctl, etc commands that look like they may be involved.

Maybe I am looking for a easy way to send scsi commands, but it may require a higher level language (ie c) to send low level scsi commands.

If anyone has experience with sending scsi commands to a robot or another device that may get me on the right track.

usually no OS has commands to drive the Robotics. You will always need ether a Commands set from the Robotics Manufacturer or you will need a (Backup) Software, which supports your hardware.
There are some open source projects such as MTX
HTH

Franz,

Thanks for the info on the mtx project. I will start researching that as my user interface on the jukebox has gone down, so my only option is to use software.

Thx, Jay
