I've often wondered why, in VB6, turning the scroll wheel on the mouse in code view has no effect.

On other pages eg on a web site or in a Word document, this, of course, moves you up or down the page. But to do so in VB, I am obliged to use the vertical scroll bar.

Is this a mouse thing or a VB thing?

That's cool, been one of those things that's bugged me for years :)

Is there anyway to install this addin into VBA (2003 primarily)???

Thanks

Yes, of course. Assuming that you've unzipped the downloaded file to a folder, simply right click on the reg file, and merge it into your registry. You will now find Mousewheel Fix available as an add-in in your VBA IDEs

strongm probably deservs the credit here, it was probably one of his posts that I saw the solution in origianly :)

I just tried this "patch" and even though I get it to Startup/Load in the IDE, it does NOT work.

Has anyone got this to work?

FWIW: I installed the intellipoint 4.12 (as mentioned within the MS KB Article) after the first method didn't work and it too does not work. I can scroll in any application except the VB IDE.

I'm running WinXP Pro (w/SP2 & current updates) and VB6 (w/SP6b) on a Compaq nx9600 laptop.

Is this similar to your systems?

They provide the source code for the add-in. You can always try debugging it ...

I suspect the touchpad is eating the messages before they get to the addin

Very funny, strongm. :-D

I just installed this and it works for me too. Nice thing to have!!! I've always wanted one, in fact. Thanks azrobert.

All the add-in does (in essence) is subclass the IDE so that it can respond to the scroll wheel messages and translate them into the scroll bar messages that the IDE can actually deal with (there's a little bit more to it than that, but not much - e.g figuring out which scroll bar to send the message to in a split window situation)

Here's one of Hypetia's on that subject: thread222-902639
