In my current NT4 domain, non-active directory, we are using Script Logic Manager 4.14, which I find to be extremely useful.

However, when our platform moves to Server 2003 with AD, will it be necessary to continue using Script Logic (upgrading to SL Desktop Authority) or does 2003 AD already have built in functionality and ability to perform the types of tasks that are available in SL Desktop Authority? What will having and using SL Desktop Authority provide to me that I can't already accomplish through using any native abilities built into 2003 server with AD?

Thanks

Tony

I went to 2003AD from NT. Used SL then, use DA now. I wouldn't give it up for anything!! For many things, DA is the fastest way to get things done, particularly when you know SL/DA better than AD.

That said, learning AD and GPO is important, but SL lets you get stuff done until you do.

You can do everything with Active Directory and policies, but scriptlogic is easier to get some things done. Would use scriptlogic same way as you did. Do upgrade Scriptlogic
