I have made an application and tested it fine on a target PC I own. I was just about to issue it and thought about the screen size. If my forms look fine on a 17inch at 800 by 600 will a 15 inch running at 800 by 600 look the same or will the forms be resized to the smaller screen?

My forms take up nearly the whole width of the 17 inch, they are supported by the Access Developers Handbook Form Resize class.

I am just unclear on what happens when the form shows on a 15 inch.

Hi dynamictiger,

All your forms occupy a certain number of pixels; they are not a number of inches across or down. What changes with different screen sizes is the size of the pixel, so if your form fills a 17" monitor it will fill a 15" (or a 21") monitor at the same resolution.

Where you are likely to get more problems is with screens at different resolutions so users with screen sizes of 640 by 480 (few and far between these days, I guess) will only see part of your form, and users with higher resolutions will see some background - exactly what will depend on how they have it set up. If your form is in Excel and they have Excel maximized then they would see some of the underlying worksheet (or whatever).

I'm afraid I know nothing of the Access Developers Handbook Form Resize class so can't comment on how it works with different resolutions but I would think it extremely unlikely that it reacts to physical screen size; your screens should just be a little bit (12% or so) smaller.

Enjoy,
Tony
