screen saver issue!!!!

I have a compaq pentium R 1.7 mhz, 256mb ram.
I cannot get the screen saver to work at all.

I had used two different monitors in on one location
and the screen saver will not work.

But, when I took the system to my friends house, the screen saver had came on.


I am very puzzled at this as what to do?
The only thing my friend notice was the avg software
still running in the background. I disabled it and still have the same problem.

Can someone help me on this one.

Check all your power & screen saver options. Also you BIOS power saving settings. I suspect you have a conflict somewhere. If you report them here someone should be able to offer something more than general advice.

Ok as Stduc said you should look at the power settings that you have on your laptop. The default timings for the monitor to go off on minimal power settings is 5 minitues this could turn off the monitor before the screen saver comes on as the screen saver is set to 10 minutes default. When your using mains power the screen saver should then work. Now I know that you have only given a little amount of information on this but to answer this more I need more information. Do you have multiple users do you use different profiles, have you set any of the power settings. I use AVG and there is nothing that could stop your screen saver from working that I can see. I hope this helps.
