Screen goes black for 2-5 seconds. 1

Some times when a program starts my total screen goes blank for 2-5 seconds for no apparent reason. Any thoughts?

It doesn't seem to follow a pattern of any kind.

I teach a lot of programming so I can learn. You can never learn it all.
 
Are the drivers for your Video Card up to date?

Same question about your Bios, any update available?

It happened almost ever since I bought the system.

It is a Pentium-4 dual HP 2.8 hyperthread system.
It has the same setup it had when I bought it new.
