I am encountering the following message after complete (and successful) installation of UnixWare 2.1:

"pcmp_table_look: MP floating pointer missing.
pcmp_table_check: Bad MP config table signature."

I have already confirmed all IRQ, and Mem. address settings. There does not seem to be any device conflict.
Please provide assistance,
Thank You,
Bob Moattari

How many CPUs does the server have? And did you install the multi-processor support?

Hello Andy,
The server is a Compaq Proliant 800 with only one CPU.
My first installation (following same steps) on a comparable server has been successful. I have encountered this problem on two units so far.

A search on the error message in SCO's technical article database threw up a link to
This details an error described as "I get "WARNING: pcmp_table_xxx", then the system panics during the first reboot of my Compaq 2500 server after a fresh UnixWare 2.1.2 installation."

Quoting from the document:

The circumstances that manifested themselves with the specific WARNING and PANIC messages above include:

- A single CPU ProLiant 2500

- Selection of the MP Package During the installation

- Selection of the "Intel MP Specification"

There's then some details about how to correct the problem. If the link I gave doesn't work, go to and do a search for the first error message that you gave.

Good luck!

Thanks a million Andy!
I looked up the solution from the link you provided. I will give this a try!
You have been a great help...
Bob
