Hi all-here's the scenario:
2 sites connected via SCN/IP trunks with cable modems connected to Sonicwall TZ 150's.The IPO's are 406V2 3.2.54 although I think they are irrelevant in this situation.
Problem:
The link between the IPO's seems to be going down on a regular basis.Site A can call/ping site B but not vice/versa.Called the cable support while onsite and the link was down.Of course all we got from them is everything is fine.In the past re-setting the cable modems has cleared the trouble but today after resetting site B's cable modem I reset site B's Sonic wall and BAM!Connection restored. We are receiving DHCP from the cable provider.Of course static is available for an additional fee.
Could static be the answer?Wondering if anyone has run into this before we take the time/money to convert to static.

QOS on the cable connection ???

is it a synchronised connection ???

I'm afraid i don't know the answers to those questions. Thanks for the lightning fast response.
These modems are installed only for a voice path with no other function whatsoever. When the link is up speed/quality are excellent. No need for QOS.I am not sure what a synchronised connection is.Can you give a brief explanation?
We have a partner of ours do the Sonicwalls-we are old-school voice guys trying to catch up.
Thanks much-

Synchronised means that the upload is the same as download
you can have a high download speed but if your upload is 256k you know what can happen
QOS is needed between those sites !

Thanks-I'll mention the synchronised thing to my Sonicwall guy.I don't think Cablevision will do QOS in this area.Only a few calls have to travel over the link at any given time and voice traffic is the only traffic between the Sonicwalls.I think we will be fine as long as this damn link stays up!
Thanks for the insite.

I'm not an expert on Sonicwall, but from my experience they are a pain to set up. Tons of security stuff. My bet is that it is not the cable. I have an SCN from my home with a cable modem back to the office and it has worked for 9 months with never a glitch using netgear. On the Sonicwall I know that there are some settings that for lack of a better term, need connected devices to get reauthenticated. I had this happen with some IP phones. Basically the router guy for this company turned off all the over the top security crap.

I'm thinking Sonicwall too.Thanks-I'll get on the Sonicwall guys a little bit.
