Having a weird problem with an SCN connection.

Here are the basics:

1. Two identical IPO 500v2 systems running 6.1
2. VM Pro installed at Main site
3. System has been in place and running great for about 4 years
4. Systems are connected via a point to point VPN
5. All necessary licenses are in place
6. NO FIREWALL in place

Last week a power outage at the remote site caused the IPO system to reboot and the IPO couldn’t see the SD card. That was fixed simply by reseating the card and rebooting the system. They also had a snafu with the router when someone was told to reset the router and they paper clipped it and took the router back to factory default instead of just power cycling the router.

I re-installed the router config that had been in use. And everything seemed fine.

However, here is the problem.

The SCN is DOWN at the remote site and cannot access the VM system at the main site.

The remote site CAN call the main site over the VPN using the short codes that have been in place since the beginning.

The main site can also call the remote site via short code over the VPN.

I can ping the VM Pro server and the Main site IPO from the remote site IPO.

I can ping the remote IPO from the main IPO.

SCN shows UP on the main site, but DOWN on the remote site.

This means the remote site cannot access the VM Pro and doesn’t have voice mail service.

I have gone through several gyrations of rebooting both systems several times. I have deleted and rebuilt the IP trunks on both systems. I have deleted and rebuilt the VPN circuit as well. I have even loaded a slightly older config in both systems that had worked previously.

Everything looks like it should work.

Bottom line, the remote site can’t access the VM Pro system because it says SCN is down on the remote side.

Any thoughts?

THANKS!!

double and triple check your firewall config and make sure there is no h323 googly moogly going on. There always seems to be some ALG/h323 helper garbage in the way.

Also, in an SCN, you should *not* need shortcodes. Why do you have shortcodes? Are the lines setup as qsig or h450 rather than IP office SCN?
