here is the error I'm getting:

"DDN.Utilities.InspectionReportEmailer.job" (DDN.Utilities.InspectionReportEmailer.exe) 10/12/2006 5:20:00 AM ** ERROR **
The attempt to log on to the account associated with the task failed, therefore, the task did not run.
The specific error is:
0x80070569: Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.
Verify that the task's Run-as name and password are valid and try again.

I checked the local Security policy for the account... If I retype the run-as password for the task, the job will run and start when scheduled. there is nothing in the Event logs.

any ideas?

I dont understand the problem. The error says the credentials are wrong so it cant run. the second part of your post says you fixed the credential problem and now it works fine. what is the issue exactly?

Sorry i thought it said the credentials where "invalid". Try running the task as admin or as system and see if it works. if it does then the user you are trying to use may need elevated permission in the local security policy like "Log on as a batch job" or "Log on as a service".

I was going to change the Run-As account and see. I've got 4 tasks total and 2 of them fail... 2 run on Domain\Acct1 and the other 2 run on Domain\Acct2.

I have the accounts set in the local security policy to "log on as a batch job". However, The Add or Remove buttons on ALL policies on ANY machine are greyed out..... any ideas what could be causing this?

These computers are in a domain? Then, they will most likely be receiving these policies from the domain. Whether you make an account a local admin doesn't really matter, unless that account is a domain admin.

The policies are applied in the following order:

Local, Site, Domain, OU

If you have different policies (specifically local), they could very well be overwritten by the domain policy (hence, the get greyed out). You'll need to push this from a policy, or, create and link an OU policy for the settings you want on these 2 machines.

I reinstalled SP1 on this server and on every PDC and restarted all servers... things appear to be fine.
