Whats the best way to enable call forwarding for one particualar user/ext only at certain times of the day.
Would I use shortcodes to do that if so what would the shortcode be for forwarding call traffic to an excternal number between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm. Each user has their own DID assigned to them. I thought about setting up time profiles for this particular user but not sure if that would work.
Help please.

If you want the DID forwarded you could use a Night Service Profile on the incoming call route and redirect the call to a forwarded user or short code. This will not forward internal calls.

You could also put the phone on Do Not Disturb (for immediate forwarding) and use the condition editor to create a time profile to forward the extension bewteen those hours. This would work for internal and external calls. If you forget to press DND the call would still forward after 3 rings.

You could also change the user's extension to a hunt group and make the new user's extension the only member of the hunt group. Then you could create time profiles to forward the hunt group. Depending on how you have things set up, this could create some confusion because you would have to redirect mailboxes etc to try and make it transparent. But it would accomplish the forwarding.

Ragnorak, I'm not familiar with condition editor. Is that a standard IPO app? As far as voicmail, I would still want to save it on our system if the user doesn't pick up and I would like to be able to forward both internal and external calls to the user's phone but I can live with just external calls going there. Thank you for your tips.

The condition editor is in Voicemail Pro. You can create a Weekly Schedule condition (very similar to a time profile in manager) and then use a test condition action to see if the call is within those hours or not.

In VM Pro, you would create a custom Leave Mail action for that User's mailbox. Put a Test Condition action just after the Start Point. Connect the true and false to a Leave Mail action for non-forwarding hours and a transfer action for the forwarding hours.

I believe there is a flash demo in the docs about using the condition editor. I think there is a job aid in the VM Pro docs as well. It has pictures and is fairly easy to follow.

Just test it to make your logic is right. If it isn't working, swap the actions you have connected to the true and false. It's easy to get confused the first time you do it.
