Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to schedule a job to run an asp page?

I would like to run an asp on my Web server (different from DB server and may be outside of the firewall) every night. That page does file synchronization, email notifications, etc.

If yes, how; if not, any better idea?

For what it's worth I don't know if it can be done, but personally I'd just schedlue a task to do the job for me. Remembering of course that SQL Server can send emails etc. And with the right code everything you'll probably need doing as well.

Just my opinion.

I agree with William. Look at whether you can accomplish this within SQL Server. If not, then you can can run an ASP page using Windows Task Scheduler, known as at in Windows NT, and creating a Windows Service for iexplore.exe. The scheduler is used to start and stop iexplore; and iexplore is run with paramters pointing to the ASP page you want to run. This is a simple idea but I had a lot of trouble making it work due to issues of permissions. I found this solution in an article by Kim Jensen titled Running An ASP Script As A Windows NT Service on askASP.com
