Hey Im trying to install a Microtek FilmScan 35mm Scanner to Windows 2000 with a dual boot so all my win files are on the D:\
When I go to install the driver for the scanner it automatically goes to the the directory of C:\ and I dont want this as it will not work with the scanner... There is no option to install the files to a different directory it is just a click next, click next installiation...

Does anyone know of a patch or something to get it to install to the D:\ ??? Any help would be greatly appricated...
thanks

You can brute force the issue with partition magic by setting up the partition active and booting to the extended partition. But you'll also have to install the OS there for the duration to be able to load the stuff in the first place.
Other partitioning software might work also, I just haven't any experience with them.

THANKS for the advice, but its not my PC and its one of my clients...I dont want to go messing with his machine he wouldnt like that very much, its a bit to much to do, I'll see if I can find another work around or if you have any other advice that would be great...

thanks anyway..

There's no browse button beside the C:\folder name? Even though the directory line is grayed out if there is a browse button, click on it and pick the drive and directory you want it to go in. ggebhart@clover.net
I hope I never get too old or arrogant to learn something new!

yea there is NO browse button, its a wizard that does it all for you and there is no option to do a custom or typical or anything like that...it doesnt even say that its going to install it here <drive:\folder\folder\> it just does it and I can see in the status bar that its going to <C:\bla\bla\bla>...

thanks anyway... ~KeyTech

Look for an INI file that is related to the installation of the software. It might be possible to edit it to go to another location.

Cheers,

Tim

Good thinking Batman,
so I went through all the .ini and .inf files and nothing
there to indicate a destination Dir.
I also disassembled the setup.exe file but there was no
string ref's or dialogs to indicate where it would put
the files.... thanks anyway, it was good idea.
got any more!!!
