I have installed a Canon N640P Scanner on my pc which has a Celeron 500 MHz cpu on a Asus mother board running Windows ME and when I run the scanner Canocraft software it comes up with an error "Unable to open TWAIN source".

What does this mean and how can I fix the problem?

Could have something to do with a BIOS setting??????

It sounds like you don't have all the software / drivers loaded up for the SCANNER.
Re-read all the instructions and try again.

BIOS........ check what the manufacturer recommends for the PARELLEL PORT SETTINGS,,,,,,
ECP / EPP or BI-Directional.....

Do you have this hooked up with a printer also ?

If so, have you tried UN-hooking the printer and trying just the scanner for TBshooting purposes ?

> How about reading the FAQ on Compaq's web-site for tips.......

Have you installed the latest drive?

When you install the new driver, you will need to select the new source as your scanner. In some programs, you may also need to select a scanner type. If the type TWAIN is
available, this is the one you should select.

Do you have a bi-directional cable for the scanner?

Do you have it on an A/B switch one for printer one for scanner? Maybe you need to install an additional parallel port?
