ScanDisk won't RUN

Hello EveryOne

I tried closing all progs, just explorer and systray running and selecting ScanDisk from System tools.
Error message is: Has started 10 times, another window program is using blah, blah, blah....(defrag done)
So I tried booting up in SafeMode and running ScanDisk. Hmmm same problems.

I trying to figure out how to start in puter in DosMode to type in scandisk at the c:/prompt.

Meanwhile, suggestions please!!!

I have the same problem. STIMON.EXE is the culprit. I disbaled this from running - it runs from the registry and does not appear in start up items. You can disable it easiest by using TweakTray (download from internet). Only problem I find is if you have a scanner or other device with activity sensor i.e. my scanner brings up dialog box on lifting cover, this will not work properly. I believe STIMON monitors USB devices, but I am not sure exactly what it does, or if there is a workaround. Helpful suggestions off anybody please.

Keep in mind, you only need explorer and systray to run scandisk. Good Luck
