Actually there is quite a bit to the upgrade. I suggest reserving 3 hours for the process based on my experience.

When you order your spervice pack you will receive 3 CDs. The first 2 are the same for standard edition and the third is the premium technologies CD.

Upgrade the OS with these instructions:

Then upgrade ISA and SQL with this info:

I've done 6 SBS 2003 SP1 installs so far and had trouble with each of the Premium installs. I was unable to get SQL to upgrade because each time it said there were files waiting to be renamed and to reboot. After a reboot I got the same message. I hunted this down to registry key that needed to have its value deleted. The key is the same as in this MSKB

I hope you find this post helpful.

Thanks for the post Mark.

There is 1 thing that I am confused about, with SBS 2003 Premium & SP1. (We just received the SBS 2003 Premium SP1 CD's).

With SBS 2003 Premium, do we have to install:
-Windows Server 2003 SP1
-Exchange Server 2003 SP1
-Windows SharePoint Services SP1
-Windows Small Business Server 2003 Update KB891193 for Windows XP Service Pack 2
-Windows Small Business Server 2003 SP1
-ISA 2004 SP1
-SQL 2000 SP4

Or can we just install:
-ISA 2004 SP1
-SQL 2000 SP4

Please see the URL:
Thanks for the assistance.

You will need to them all, particularly since you'll be moving from ISA200 to ISA2004. The SBS SP1 updates the SBS wizards, which are essential for proper SBS configuration and operation.

As marcdmac says, plan about three hours for the process. I've had small glitches with the install not initially recognizing machines patched to Exchange SP1, as well as default FTP rules in ISA 2004 are set for read only download, so if you have an active FTP site set up, you'll have some manual reconfiguring to do.

FYI also, we have seen some strange behavior from ISA 2004 with respect to accessing secure web sites. One of my customers could not reach their 401K management web site and another had problems with an online accounting service web site. For the former, we ended up removing ISA altogether and Microsoft PSS is STILL trying to figure it out for us.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
