We currently run a single server with SBS2003 STD on it. We are openning a new office in another town. The new office will have a slow DSL connection (due to its location 512 Kbits down and 256Kbits up)

Our main application that we run works fine on a Terminal server (say the software provider) the other thing that the remote office will need from the small business servers is access to the our intr-net site.

The SBS2003 is also configured for VPN.

My question.

Can we just buy another server, install Server 2003 configured as a Terminal Server. On the TS box I just make sure there are is a short cut to our main application.

I have some question about licences but that can wait until I know my initial proposal is correct.

Cheers

Yes, you can install another server, make it a Terminal Server, and grant access to your application.

Or use an XP workstation with WinConnect (thinsoftinc.com) on it and save some money, if all you want to do is host that application. You may not need server-level hardware for what you are doing (application serving). I recently deployed a QuickBooks solution this way for 4 remote accounting employees to use, and it works great.

Ok licenses. This is a night mare. I have looked and read but I am no closer to my answer so I'll ask here.

We have 10 cals for the SBS server only 7 are ever used. We need 3 users at site "B" via a terminal server. Do I just need a copy of server 2003 with its 5 cals and 3 Terminal server Licenses.

We are also thinking of installing Office onto the TS box. Do I need a License for each user or can I install it as usual and dose the TS License cover it.....

Very confused and open to help.
