I'm trying to understand Small Business Server 2000 licencing. According to MS you can have as many user accounts as you like but you are limited to 50 computers. Does this mean that a Client Access Licence (CAL) refers to a machine not a user?
What machines require a CAL? MS define it as "..physically attached to a SBS 2000 network". What about a remote user connecting over a VPN? eg VPN into the office and then use OW, or VPN in and use the file server.
The CAL "...authorizes you to access and use the services and functionality of a Microsoft Windows 2000 Server that is in the same domain as the Small Business Server." How about if I add additional SQL or Exchange servers - do I need to puchase additional CALs for them?
Can anyone help with these questions - or point me to a website where (SBS) CALs are clearly explained??
Thanks.
